Other Opportunities

We continually try to create opportunities for people to grow in Christ with the body of Christ.  Such as...

Young Adults

Pastor Andrew & Miriam invite young adults, UNBC and CNC students 18-30 years old to their house on Sunday evenings every 2-3 weeks.  Their topics of discussion and study vary from looking at a book of the Bible, to discussing recent sermons, to discerning how we can be present to God and others in an age of distration.

Women's Bible Study

This group meets weekly on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:00am.  Childcare for infants and toddlers is provided.

Pastor's Bible Study

Pastor Andrew invites anyone to come out every other Thursday morning to study a passage of the Bible that he will be preaching on in the next couple of weeks.  It is a great way to be more engaged in the Sunday sermons and even contribute to them.  These Bible studies are sporadically scheduled, so make sure to check out the Calendar page and look in the Sunday bulletins.

Pastor's Book Club

Once or twice a year Pastor Andrew invites people to read and meet to discusss a significant book that challenges and shapes our Christian lives, our understanding of the Bible and theology, or that helps us engage our contemporary culture.  In the 2018-19 season he will be hosting two different book club groups:

  1. To read and discuss The Tech-Wise Family: Everyday Steps for Putting Technology in Its Proper Place, by Andy Crouch (Baker, 2017).  This discussion group is perfect for parents of children of all ages, grandparents, teachers, or anyone who wants to be challenged with a very hopeful outlook on how we can manage our devices rather than let them manage us.  This book club will take place over 3 evenings, with a reunion 6 months later, with the potential of having a reunion every 6 months to encourage one another, share our success stories and our frustrating roadblocks.  This book club will run from late October through November.
  2. To read and discuss Making Sense of God: An Invitation to the Skeptical, by Timothy Keller (Viking, 2016).  This book, along with our discussions, will help us navigate the assumptions, biases and philosophy of our secular age and shows how Christianity actually provides more rational answers than secularism does to life's biggest questions.  This book club will begin in January 2019.  It will likely require 7-10 meetings.  Details will be discussed in December about when and where this group will meet, and with what frequency.

Small Groups

Beyond the above opportunities if you would like to be part of a small group that meets every 2-4 weeks then please talk to Pastor Andrew so he can help you connect with other members with the same desires.

Sunday Evening Discipleship

In the past we have gathered people once a month on Sunday evenings to grow deeper in our faith, deeper as a community, deeper in our knowledge of God and his Word, and deeper and broader in our understanding and imagination of how to live as God's people in his world.  We have done the ReFrame Course (Regent College) and used the WE curriculum (Faith Alive) in recent years.  We do not have a once-a-month Sunday evening discipleship program running at this time, but check back for opportunities in the future or feel free to suggest an idea to Pastor Andrew.

We are on the lifelong journey of being shaped into the image of Christ. We do this individually, but we also do it as a church community—the body of Christ.
